Evidence note: Biuda has consented to being featured. The figures below are reported outcomes since the engagement began; they should be read as venture progress, not as results attributable to one adviser alone.

Education technology venture
Digital skills, live learning and talent discovery for young people.
Biuda is a Nigerian education technology venture helping young people build practical capability in coding, artificial intelligence, game development and digital creativity. SLU founder Buhle C. Slade first mentored the venture through the Bridge for Billions incubation programme. The work moved beyond advice into goals, measurement, business-model decisions and the strategies required to retain customers, generate revenue and grow responsibly. Private advisory support now continues through She Levelled Up.
The starting position
Biuda had already served approximately 2,000 customers, but the user base was fluctuating and many customers from the first launch had not paid. Goals were not clearly defined, the business model and revenue streams needed greater discipline, there were no strategic partners and the venture was losing customers. The team had also reduced to three members, placing further pressure on its capacity to execute.
The immediate priority was therefore not scale. It was to stabilise the value being delivered, understand why customers were leaving, make the offer excellent and introduce a management rhythm the team could sustain.
The operating framework
At the beginning of the engagement, we aligned expectations and established SMART goals, objectives, time-bound KPIs and weekly accountability. The work was organised around a simple sequence:
The first three to four months prioritised customer satisfaction and retention. Validation and customer feedback were used to strengthen the offer before automation or expansion. This prevented scale from becoming a way of multiplying an unresolved retention problem.
Strategies and systems built
Identify why customers disengaged, strengthen satisfaction and use feedback to improve the learning experience.
Clarify priority customer segments, acquisition channels and the path from interest to enrolment.
Structure school, parent and institutional routes to market around measurable traction, CAC, retention and adoption.
Create personalised pitch decks and proposals tailored to the value, objectives and decision criteria of each prospective partner or sponsor.
Clarify revenue streams across live classes, parent-facing offers, school partnerships and sponsored or institutional programmes.
Use SMART objectives, KPIs, milestones and regular check-ins to keep priorities visible, accountable and time bound.
What changed
Since the engagement began, Biuda has reported growth from an unstable base of approximately 2,000 users to more than 5,000 learners, work across more than 100 schools, more than ten institutional pilots and the training of more than 100 teachers. The learning app is now available through the major app stores.
The venture also moved from having no strategic partners to establishing a partnership with Nigeria’s Minister of Education’s Office to train teachers in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. It left the engagement with clearer revenue streams, a more disciplined operating model and partnership materials designed around the specific audience rather than one generic pitch.

Good venture support does not replace founder judgment. It creates the evidence, structure and decision discipline that allow that judgment to compound.
The SLU method in practice
This engagement moved through identify, research, design, validation, optimisation, automation and scale. Business Model Canvas work, customer evidence, pricing and viability analysis, financial forecasting, impact planning and a one-year growth plan helped connect Biuda’s mission to an executable business model. Technology was not treated as the strategy; it was considered in relation to learner value, retention, school adoption, revenue and the operational capability required to sustain delivery.
